Bridges
A dental bridge can fill in space left by a removed or missing tooth. At our Mooresville Dentist office, 2 visits are required to complete the process. First, we prepare the teeth that will be supporting the bridge by shaping them to make room for the device and fitting them for crowns.
Second, we bond the crowns to the supporting teeth and molds are taken for the dental bridge. Finally, we will complete the process by affixing a dental bridge to the supporting crowns.
There are different types of bridges to choose from:
- Traditional bridges (most common) bridge the gap of an empty tooth. A false tooth is secured by using crowns on the teeth.
- Cantilever bridges replace a tooth that does not have supporting teeth on both sides of the affected area.
- Maryland bonded bridges are held in place with a metal frame and include artificial teeth and gums.
