Veneers

Veneers are used to correct uneven teeth, discoloration, chipped teeth, irregular spacing, and worn enamel.  They are one of the most popular and effective advances in cosmetic dentistry and can last over 20 years.

Procedure

At our Mooresville Dentist office, a thorough examination of teeth will take place by taking an impression of your teeth and possibly an x-ray.  After this, the dentist will remove a thin layer of enamel from your teeth and create an impression of your teeth and send it off to a lab to create the veneer. You may receive temporary veneers while the mold is being created.  The veneer’s color and size are given an adjustment before the dentist cements them to your tooth.

Veneers aren’t just for having natural, good-looking teeth- they are stain resistant and soft on gums, too. They can even help protect damaged tooth or teeth from further harm.

Risks

There are rare cases where veneers can chip or crack and will need to be replaced.  If you grind your teeth during sleep, you may be asked to wear a mouthguard when you go to bed.  Our Mooresville Dentist will be able to tell you if you are one of those people who grind their teeth during sleep. The enamel removing process is irreversible and your teeth may become sensitive to hot or cold foods.
